Did the Super Bowl Have You Running… to the Bathroom? 🏃‍♀️

Hi Reader!

Did you spend more time watching the Super Bowl—or making a halftime sprint to the bathroom? 🤦‍♀️

If you noticed your bladder acting up after all the game-day snacks and drinks, you’re not alone! Some of the most common Super Bowl foods and beverages are bladder irritants, meaning they can increase urinary urgency and frequency. Here are a few culprits that might have had you on “bladder overload”:

🏈 Spicy Wings & Dips – Spicy foods can aggravate the bladder lining, leading to irritation.

🍅 Tomato-Based Foods (Salsa, Pizza, Chili) – Tomatoes are acidic and can trigger bladder sensitivity.

🍊 Citrus-Infused Drinks & Lemon Garnishes – Acidic fruits (like lime in your beer or lemon in your water) can lead to bladder irritation.

🍻 Alcohol (Beer, Cocktails, Seltzers) – Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it increases urine production and can dehydrate you, making urgency worse.

🥤 Sodas & Energy Drinks – Caffeine and carbonation are a double whammy for bladder irritation.

If your bladder was protesting last night or kept you up with multiple trips to the bathroom, here are a few tips to help moving forward:

Hydrate wisely – Drink plenty of water to flush out irritants but sip slowly to avoid overwhelming your bladder; drinking too fast can also cause frequency.

Try a soothing alternative – Herbal teas (like chamomile) can be gentler on the bladder than soda or mixed drinks. Did you know that coffee is also a bladder irritant??!!

Bladder-friendly snacks – If you’re still snacking today, go for plain crackers, yogurt, or a banana instead of acidic or spicy leftovers.

And if urgency and frequency are regular visitors in your life (not just after Super Bowl Sunday), let’s chat! Bladder health is so much more than just avoiding certain foods—it’s about pelvic floor strength, hydration habits, and more. If you’re dealing with frequent trips to the bathroom, hit reply and let’s figure out how to calm that bladder down!

Sincerely your pelvic health ally

P.S. Did you notice any bladder changes after last night’s game? Reply and let me know—I’d love to hear!
